What is the experience of therapy/counseling sessions like?

Counseling is conducted in a private session between the patient, and the counselor. The counselor collects all pertinent information

about your concern during the first session and together with you, they develop a treatment plan that best fits your needs

In your following sessions, you start work on the goals you developed, the counselor helps you to learn new coping skills or help you change particular behaviors that may be causing problems

Patients usually feel they can tell their counselor anything and it remains confidential, it is safe.  The only time that patient confidentiality can be broken if the patient expresses a desire to harm themselves or others.

The counseling sessions equip the patient with tailored, individual techniques for handling their particular issues or stressors.
